You run a growing server and the first minute decides whether a newcomer stays. Many owners tell the same story: the welcome image, the full set of message variables or a nicer card sits behind a premium plan in the big all in one bots, so a plain line of text is all the free tier gives them.

Wody welcomes members with plain text, an embed or an image card, sends an optional DM and assigns an auto role on join. The standard card is 1200x630 so the pictures from the Wody gallery fit exactly, and the gradient Aurora style is there if you want it to stand out. Everything is set up from the dashboard with a live preview.

Who it is for

  • Owners who read about welcome cards and found them locked behind a premium plan
  • Servers that want a DM and a starting role at the moment of joining
  • Creators and gaming communities where the first minute decides if a newcomer stays

What goes wrong elsewhere

  • The welcome image, the full set of variables and the card background are premium in several popular bots
  • A plain message in a busy channel scrolls away before the newcomer reads it
  • Welcome setups often fire for bots too, or show a member count that is a moment out of date
  • Owners cannot preview the result, so they test by leaving and rejoining with an alt account

How to set up Welcome & Auto Role

Here is how to get Welcome & Auto Role running on your server, step by step. It takes a few minutes.

  1. Add Wody and open the dashboard

Invite Wody to your server, then sign in to the dashboard with Discord and pick your server. In Discord you can also run /dashboard to get the link.

  2. Turn on Welcome & Auto Role

Open Welcome & Auto Role in the sidebar and switch it on if it is off.

  3. Set it up

Choose what you need and save. Changes reach the bot instantly. You can set:

    • Title, message and footer with placeholders
    • Format: plain text, embed with avatar or image card
    • Card background, avatar, colors, overlay and size
    • A DM for the new member and an auto role
  4. Check that it works

Try it in your server. If something is missing, Wody tells you exactly what, for example a permission, and the Error Log in the dashboard shows it. You can come back and change anything at any time.

Frequently asked questions

Is the welcome image really free?+
Yes. Welcome messages, cards, DMs and the auto role are part of the free Wody module for every server.
Can I greet people with the name of the person who invited them?+
Yes. Turn on Invite Tracking and use the inviter variables in the welcome message. When Wody cannot be sure who invited someone, it says so instead of guessing.
What size should my welcome picture be?+
The standard card is 1200x630. Pictures from the Wody gallery already use that size.
Can the bot give a role automatically?+
Yes. The auto role is assigned when a member joins, and you can combine it with Captcha if you want members to verify first.
Can I see the message before it goes live?+
Yes. The dashboard shows a live preview of the message or card, so you do not need an alt account to test it.
